Every story is checked against its sources before it goes up. If we still got something wrong, we would rather fix it quickly than argue about it.
What you can ask for
- A correction, if something we published is wrong.
- An update, if a story is out of date or leaves out your side when it is on the public record.
- Removal, if a story or photo breaks the law or your rights: something untrue about you, your private information, or your copyright.
- Your personal information: to see it, correct it or have it deleted (see our privacy notice).
How to ask
Email complaints@randdesk.co.za with the link to the story, what you think is wrong and why, and anything that shows it, such as a document or an official source. If you are writing for someone else, say who.
What happens next
- We reply within two working days.
- A factual error is corrected in the story, with a note saying what changed and when. Our corrections page lists every correction.
- A photo is taken down while we check its licence if its owner objects.
- Anything we find unlawful, or that breaks someone’s rights, is removed promptly.
- If we decide not to change a story, we tell you why.
